 II. World Expo:

T: During the Second Industrial Revolution there were three World Expos to show the achievements. As we know, there will be a World Expo in Shanghai. Do you know in which year?

S: 2010.

T: Good. Look at this picture. This is the poster of Shanghai World Expo in 2010.

T: And next poster is very popular on TV and street.

Bring our wishes into reality. From these posters we can know the purpose of Shanghai World Expo.

Last two weeks, I asked all of you to prepare a small world expo to introduce the inventions and creations in the Second Industrial Revolution. Four parts: topic, mark, host city and contents.

Now lets warmly welcome some groups to introduce their World Expo about the Second Industrial Revolution.

 [after group one]

T: Very nice. Diesel engine developed transport. And the daily life is more convenient than before. You can go to anywhere by cars and aeroplanes. As we know , what is the most important invention in the Second Industrial Revolution?

S: Light bulb.

T: Good, so we called the Second Industrial Revolution the Age of Electricity .Now lets warmly welcome Li Xin to introduce the inventions in electricity.

 [after group two]

T: Thanks a lot. Just like Li Xin said the electricity is very important to our daily life. Could you tell me how many things need electricity in this room? What are they?

S: Air conditioner, electric light, projector, computer, watch, mobilephone, pickup camera and so on.

How did the Second Industrial Revolution affect us?

[4 mins]

T: Ok, stop here. Now lets have a plenary discussion. Who will be the first? Any volunteer

S:.

T:

Source1.

Source 2.

Source 3.

Source 4.

Source 5.

 IV. Conclusion:

Now lets have a conclusion about the Second Industrial Revolution.

We must see the positive and negative influences of the Second Industrial Revolution.

Positive and negative are just like the two sides of things. Positive is good , negative is bad. Understand?

Ok, lets see the positive influences. The Second Industrial Revolution developed scientific technology.

Then the scientific technology developed productive forces. It made the productive forces increased over 200% in the world. So we say science and technology are the first productive forces.

Could you tell me what is the Chinese meaning?

Yes. Especially in electrical area.

(Zeus)

However on the other hand, lets look at the negative influences of the Second Industrial Revolution.

Now please look at this picture. Could you guess what does it mean?

The only one sentence is: Its their fault. Now lets have a discussion.

T: Very good.

T: From the historians saying.

What do you think about?

T: So when we are developing science and technology, dont forget to protect our resources and environment. Lets try our best!
